Water tank cleaning and disinfection frequently asked questions
What size tanks do you usually clean?
We clean between 500 litres and 1 megalitre tanks.
How often do I need to clean my water tanks?
There is no exact frequency needed to clean your water tank and distribution system, however, it is commonly understood to be every 6 months.
Can I store the old water during cleaning and put it back into the tank once the tank has been cleaned, as I do not want to waste the water?
The simple answer is no. Every water tank has bacteria within it contaminating the water. Placing contaminated water within a newly cleaned tank defeats the purpose of cleaning.
How long does it take to clean?
This depends on whether or not the water tank is empty. If the co-ordination of drainage has been successful and the tank is empty when we arrive onsite, it will take no more than a few hours.
Is the equipment you use hygienic?
Yes, we specialize in cleaning water tanks that are used for drinking water and our equipment is used for this purpose only and we periodically sanitize our equipment.
How do I know if my tank contains algae?
Algae cannot grow without sunlight so this is highly unlikely. If your tank does contain algae we need to address the problem of sunlight being allowed to penetrate your tank.
